Giveaway: Red Gloves – Beth Vaughan

01 Apr

That’s right, Guys and Girls, this is my first-ever give-away!! ๐Ÿ™‚

You know, we bloggers are, by and large, incredibly lucky โ€“ I for one have been able to organize with the South African publishers that they send me copies of the latest SFF books, including ARCs and finished products, so that I can read them and review them. My collection, which was big to start with, has practically exploded, and I was just waiting for the right opportunity to give away free books, just as the publishers here have been giving me free books, and the time has finally arrived! ๐Ÿ™‚

But, unfortunately, with the Rand being such a shitty currency, I’m unable to cover the postage to send books overseas, so this give-away (and the others in the pipeline, until further notice) will be only for South Africans living in South Africa.

Please, people, don’t enter if you live outside SA โ€“ when I get the winner’s postal address and it’s not a South African address I will have to disregard that entry and pull a new winner. There are a few other rules, too:

1. You may not enter if you work for a publisher; the publishing business here in SA is pretty small when compared to operations overseas, and everybody knows practically everyone else.

2. Only one entry per person, please; it wouldn’t be fair if someone with more than one email address entered with all of them and won, so please don’t do that, k?

Okay, here’s the first book I’m giving away:

Red Gloves

Red Gloves

This book has already graced shelves in its trade paperback form here in SA, but I’ve got a copy of the paperback edition โ€“ perfect for when you’re on the bus, on the beach, and yes, on the toilet. ๐Ÿ˜‰

It’s only going to hitting shelves in late July, early August, so you can be one of the first people in the country to have a paperback edition! Here are the details:

Red Gloves is a mercenary, raised to the blade and trained in the ways of war. She’ll take no nonsense and pull no punches; she seizes what she wants and leaves when she’s done. She and Bethral, her sword-sister, have come to Palins looking for work, but they find torched fields and razed farms, a land defiled. During a storm they stumble across a derelict mansion and beg shelter of the sole human occupant, the resident goatherd. He’s not happy, and he’s not impressed with the stroppy mercenary – but Red Gloves is even less impressed when he notices her birthmark and claims it marks her out as Chosen, born to help the people of Palins reclaim their land. Her inclination to help dwindles still further when she discovers there’s no money, no reward, in fact, nothing in store for the Chosen but a difficult, bloody battle against the odds. So she takes what she wants of the goatherd, and she leaves. But circumstances force Red back to the mansion, and this time she’s more inclined to help – after all, impossible odds and bloody battles are very much her style. She’s poised, reluctantly, to do her thing, when it turns out she’s not the only Chosen in the race for freedom, and the crown …RED GLOVES: a beguiling tale of daggers, derring-do and destiny, and heroes who come in all shapes and sizes.

What do you need to do to enter? Just leave a comment on this post, telling me who you are, with your email address. That’s it! ๐Ÿ™‚ No question to answer, etc. just that. I’ll run this give-away until the 14th of April, so that gives you (and everyone you spread the word to) two weeks to enter! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ll draw the winner’s name on the 14th and publish the winner’s name here on the blog on the 15th! ๐Ÿ™‚ And, depending on the response this give-away generates, I’ll also be announcing the next give-away on the 15th!

So spread the word! If all goes well, I might be able to give away two free books a month! ๐Ÿ™‚

So, you know what to do: leave a comment on this post with your details โ€“ don’t leave an address, and don’t retype your email address โ€“ there are idiots out there who will use that info, believe me! ๐Ÿ™‚

Cool? Then what are you waiting for?

Check out Beth Vaughan’s site here, and sorry, guys and girls, but the book will only be available here in SA in late June, early July, so I’m not putting in a link to buy it online.

Be Fantastic!

First of all I live in Germany and therefore I DON’T TAKE PART in the giveaway.
But I would like to leave a comment. I fully understand why this is only for people who live in South Africa. Oversea postage shouldn’t be underestimated.

i will have a look at all your giveaways because it’s an opportunity to discover books I don’t know so far. Your first giveaway is a good example for this. I didn’t know this title so far.

Anyway good luck to all participants.
